Season 2023, the Diam 24od around the world
|
There are just over 100 Diam 24od owners, including 70 in more than 20 countries other than France: England, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Hungary, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Greece, Oman, Canada, USA, Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Taiwan, Thailand… and soon in Austria! They sail for pleasure, with their families, in regattas against other boats (compensated time) and, if there are enough Diam, in one-design. In England, as last year, a Diam 24od with David BARDEN at the helm, finished the Tour de l’ile de Wight in the Top 10 in real time. The race was run in rough conditions over part of the course, with 30 knots of wind and 2-meter waves. In Denmark, Ander BASTIANSEN wins the Silver Rudder single-handed (small multihull category) …
In Russia, after a season of Grand Prix races across the country, the boats are back at their base for their winter refit in Amapa, and are already preparing for the next season.
We’d like to keep you up to date with news from crews who are out sailing for pleasure, touring or with their families, but when things are going well, there’s little or no news!
And so, what’s on in 2024?Sint Maarten in the West Indies is already getting busy, and the 2024 regatta calendar is already shaping up to be superb: a sign of the interest in Diam 24ods, more than 10 boats are expected to be on the starting line in 2024. New parking lots are being set up to accommodate all the boats, the training program is being structured, the WDT Caribbean 2024 Challenge and other regattas are being organised under the leadership of already well-established clubs such as the “Sint Maarten Yacht Club” and “Saint Martin Voiles pour tous”. All indicators are green!
In France, although the 2024 program has not yet been finalised, it should be shortly so that everyone can plan their season. |
