Our third weekend of trials on 2nd and 3rd november in La Trinité, should have allowed around thirty people to try out this new concept of sportsboat.
Numerous future members of this new class had booked for this trial sail. Unfortunately, the weather conditions were unfavourable to try out this lightweight and fast trimaran (20 knots of established wind with gusts up to 30 knots and choppy seas) obliging us to reorganise the whole programme.
On friday, sailing was cancelled. Saturday allowed ten lucky people to enjoy some runs in the Bay of Quiberon. Others, while waiting their turn, embarked onto an accompanying boat – that was put at our disposal by Nautic Sport – and were able to observe them on all points of sail and note their ease of handling.
On Sunday, the foul weather forecast obliged us to cancel the test sail. We disassembled the boats under the scrutiny of a public looking down at us from their tables on the first floor of L’Etage.
These drawbacks did not prevent the DIAM 24 OD from causing a sensation in the Bay of La Trinité : You have to admit that they are are thoroughly modern machines through their look but also through their speed and manoeuvrability.
These windy conditions confirmed the marine qualities of this VPLP plan and enabled us to validate the new hook used for taking a reef while under sail.
It is certain that to discover a lightweight and rapid boat, the choice of moderate conditions (wind and sea) allows one to appreciate it all the more, even if the Diam 24 One Design is easy to handle for the first time user.
This weekend in La Trinite enabled us to measure the potential developpement of a third Breton pole of training – following those of Brest and Saint Malo in formation – which is promising a bright future ….
The entire Diam 24 One Design team warmly thanks the Société Nautique de La Trinité and Sagemor for their welcome.
People wanting to try out the boat can take an appointment with Vianney ANCELLIN : 06 12 33 27 98 who could organize a trial sail from the home port of ADH INOTEC , Port La Forêt.
