The “SERIES” circuit consisted of 5 acts:
Grand Prix de la Grande Motte (34) Grand Prix de l’Atlantique, Pornichet (44) Grand Prix Guyader, Douarnenez (29) Grand Prix de l’école Navale, Lanvéoc (29) Normandy cup, Le Havre (72)
The events took place from 15 March to 6 June, a period of almost 3 months, allowing sailors to take advantage of training courses organised by the FFVOILE in conjunction with voluntary training clubs and centres: Mediterranean training centre, National School of Sailing and Water Sports in Quiberon, Brest training centre…
It was a total of 17 days of sailing that the circuit offered to the many teams who came to participate in the regattas.
There are 28 teams in the SERIES 2019 ranking.
The race format is identical to those offered during the Sailing Tour, coastal course and stadiums. A difference however, the formation of GOLD and SILVER “rounds”, splitting the fleet in two according to their ranking in the first or second part.
All the Young/Pro teams were present, the “Poujoulat“ team leading the pace of these races to the most intense. They won the first and last races of this circuit, flying over as many races as possible, their performances simply amazed us.
Not to mention the IXIO Network – Toulon Provence Méditerrannée, which has largely demonstrated its ability to lead the fleet, experts in regatta optimization, increasing speed, taking care of manoeuvres, opting for the best strategy, as in Douarnenez where they finished as the great winner of the event.
Beijaflore had a very good start to the season, they were impressive in terms of regularity, but without leading the troops. Their tenacity allowed them to do 2-1-2 on the “first acts. Still!!! Less present afterwards, they did not benefit well from the last events of the Naval School and Normandy. But we can expect a comeback in great form at the beginning of July in Dunkirk for the Tour.
Gulf of Morbihan Breizh Cola represents the quiet strength. They are present in the ranking, still at the gates of the podium, they finished 2nd in the Atlantic Grand Prix, a competition that had been physically complicated for most of the crews, due to the cool and humid weather.
For the TOP 10, we must rely on EFG Private Bank Monaco, an international crew led by Pierre Pennec, and made up of a Breton and an Omani, just like the Renaissance services team led by the English skipper Stevie Morrison, also made up of a Breton and an Omani.
The HOMKIA NIL les sables d’Olonne team was 4th at the Grand Prix de l’Ecole Navale, they showed what they were capable of by leaving 20 front lengths to their pursuers. The enthusiasm of these sailors from Vendée was very present at the end of the competitions on June 6th, they finished on a good note before the break of the regattas in June.
Groupe Atlantic was very present on all these days of racing, they promise us good days and good manoeuvres to be in front.
You have to keep an eye on the teams of La Boulangère and Pink Lady – Pays de l’Or – Sud de France to fight beautiful sailing battles.
Many of them claim to be in the TOP 10, because they are 4 ex-aequo in 11th place, these are the teams of LEICHT, CER city of Geneva, Batistyl Habitat, Elengy.
The ranking beyond is composed by brilliant Diam24 OD crews:)
But they do not all practice as much as each other, or the crews change at each regatta.
We are happy to count on Diam&Fun and Notre Diam des flots to be two crews of “owner-sailor”, who came to sail with the pros.
There are only few days left before seeing the boats again in fleet racing, in Dunkirk, for the launch of the 2019 Tour Voile!
